Junior Journey Program
Junior Journey Program
Junior year is all about researching, planning, and action-taking for a successful high school launch and entry into post-graduate options. The focus of the Junior Journey Program is to help each student get clear about their decisions: attending college (or not); what types of schools are a good fit (and which are not); evaluating college-specific return on investment; and considerations for the student’s application (e.g., personal essay).
This coaching program will bring clarity to a student on their post-graduate options, and confidence as they enter their Senior year related to attaining their goal.
Ideally, coaching begins in August before junior year and extends through the full year. The total cost for the year (Aug - July) is $2,000. A student is welcome to start anytime, (please refer to the PROGRAM RATES section below for enrollment information). This full program includes:
Parent/Caregiver & Student Introduction Session (1 hour): Overview of how we will work together, review of your aspirations and any unique circumstances, etc. These sessions are held over Zoom or locally in person.
Monthly Student Coaching Sessions (1 hour/month and as needed): Zoom or locally in-personal sessions to align on interests, aspirations, and monthly action plan. Monthly sessions are pre-scheduled and Cory is available as needed to advise if circumstances arise. In these monthly sessions, your student will receive advice and coaching on their:
Coursework: Review and plan the expected courses to take based on your school’s offerings. This may or may not be needed based on work previously completed or YNF’s Sophomore Success Program.
Clubs, activities, sports, & summer experiences: Discussion and planning of interest areas for development, resume, and college application.
Testing consultation: Outline of preparation and resources for SAT and ACT; score review upon completion.
College evaluation: Identification of school attributes, potential majors, associated costs, etc.
Personal essay content: Brainstorming of potential subjects and experiences that might create strong essays.
